The functions of the Office of the Valuer-General are to support the Valuer-General with her Statutory roles and responsibilities – which in turn provides service to our whole community.

The organisational structure is comprised of four teams with distinct purposes. The collaborative nature of those teams allows for valuation, legal and administrative expertise to be shared to provide high quality services to our community.

The Office of the Valuer-General’s team members are dedicated to performing above and beyond to deliver the best possible service to the community, their customers and stakeholders.

More information about the functions of each team can be found here.

How to become a Property Valuer

If the property valuation industry interests you, completing an accredited bachelor degree with Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) certification, such as a Bachelor of Property and Real Estate, Bachelor of Property or Bachelor of Property Economics will ensure you have the required qualifications to enter the industry.

In order to meet the requirements to work with the Office of the Valuer-General as a Valuer, the following qualifications and licences are necessary:

  • Qualification as a Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 1994 and Land Valuers Regulations 2010.
  • Eligibility for or have a current Associate or Fellow level Membership of the Australian Property Institute as a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV).
  • Must have practised as a land valuer (whether in the service of the Government or privately).
